Last Thursday night was a memorable one in downtown Salt Lake City. It seemed as if everyone came to the free Concert in the Park at the Gallivan Center. Despite it being 100 degrees in the city & crammed with thousands of people, it was an incredible evening. Okkervil River opened up the show with sweet tunes and an uncanny ability to get the crowd involved. Seriously amazing.
Iron & Wine came on the stage, that is Sam Beam came on the stage, and put on an acoustic, one-man show. He played many of my favorites including Trapeze Swinger, Boy with a Coin, Flightless Bird, American Mouth, Such Great Heights, and many others. My biggest complaint about the night was that sometimes the crowd was more into socializing than listening to the music. I seriously would’ve paid money to hear these guys play and actually be able to enjoy the show without straining my ears.
Here are some pics from the night. I actually wasn’t going to bring my camera, but got convinced by a twitter friend.
Enjoy!

Last Thursday night was incredible, to say the least. Jenny Lewis and Bon Iver played at the Gallivan Center, in downtown Salt Lake City. Every Thursday night in the summer, the city puts on FREE concerts. What could be better than listening to good music, hanging out with friends, and enjoying summer nights?
This was my first time hearing Jenny Lewis (I know, I should be more up with the times). She puts on a killer show, drawing from a variety of genres, and totally rocked the stage. I am an instant fan!
Bon Iver has been one of my faves since I discovered the song ‘Blindsided‘ this last March. Justin Vernon, the lead singer really knows how to get his rock star on. I was blown away with his performance and was sad when it ended. I’ve been listening to all my Bon Iver songs since: in my car, on my computer, even at friends’ houses. I basically am addicted to his songs and can’t stop….Some of my faves are Brackett, WI, re: stacks, For Emma, Blood Bank, and of course Skinny Love. Actually, I really love every song.
FYI, these pics are best viewed when listening to his music.
