Angela, Zack, Chloe, and Sabot

It’s not every day I get to photograph a family with 2 dogs. And let me just say, these dogs act just like toddlers: hilarious, entertaining, and challenging, but I enjoyed every second.

The reason why we took their family pictures is because Sabot was leaving the family to become the Utah Police Department’s newest Bomb K9. Sabot is full of energy, doesn’t like to stay in one place, and can entertain himself for hours trying to capture his shadow.

Chloe is your typical little mutt who thinks she’s a lot bigger than her actual size. She loves to play around with Sabot but also has some spunk of her own. She’s quite the jumper!

the Dessert Family

You know how a little breeze can make your pictures more interesting? Well, we had more than just a little wind on the day we photographed this bunch. The sad thing is, we thought a storm was coming in the morning so we tried juggling when we started the session a few times only to have picked the coldest, windiest part of the day. Sigh….I guess you can’t count on weather forecasts, as awesome as our technology is these days. I definitely was impressed with how tough these 4 were despite the winter weather.

Regardless of the freezing wind, I had a wonderful time getting to know the Dessert family. We spent our time out at Day Break, mostly by the lake (or lack of lake in these winter months). I loved the scenery. It was my first time shooting out there and we were able to find lots of great backdrops for their family. I loved having them interact together to see how each of their relationships is special on-on-one as well as all together. Thanks guys!

the Simpson Family

This is the third year in a row I’ve photographed the Simpsons (check out 2007 & 2008 pictures to see how much the boys have grown!) I seriously look forward to their family pictures every fall. Natalie is always up for awesome locations which fit perfectly with their style. Plus, each year the boys get a little better at cooperating ;)

I have to thank Natalie for honoring me with the privilege of photographing her family. Natalie is an excellent photographer so it means a lot that she would trust me and keep coming back! Thanks, Nat!

Sammy, Harry, and Charlie

I gotta say, I love photographing this little bunch. I’ve photographed them many times including when Charlie was a baby and last October.

Sammy always keeps me on my toes with her sense of humor and scheming. Harry is never dull with his laughter and excitement. And, Charlie. Well, Charlie couldn’t have been cuter. He is now about 8 months old and, like any 8-month-old, he loves exploring the ground and putting things in his mouth.

Happy Halloween!

the Walker Family

I took the Walker Family pictures a few weeks ago (I am slowly, but surely catching up on my blog posts). We went up to the University of Utah campus to get a mixture of greenery and architecture. There really are some beautiful buildings on their grounds. Thanks for being willing to try different poses and locations.
What a fun family!

the Putnam Family

How fun for me to photograph the Putnam Family! You see, my family has a connection to their family. Lynn and Tony were the ones who set my parents up on a blind date. Yes, you heard me. My parents met on a blind date. How crazy is that! Anyways, they are long family friends, although it’s been years since I have seen them. (I will point them and their family later in the post).

Donna, Lynn’s mother, put this whole thing together, which is not an easy feat when you’re dealing with over 30 people’s schedules. How fun that they could spend some time together for their family reunion. I love seeing the span of generations and the interactions between family members, young and old(er).

Thanks for being so fun to photograph!

Below is Tony and Lynn’s family (they are the ones who set my parents up). They are funny, goofy, and remind me of my dad :)

the McGlynn Family

This little bunch was awesome to photograph! I actually went to high school with Katherine so it was a sweet blast from the past. She married a writer and professor, David, who wrote The End of the Straight and Narrow. This one is definitely going on my ‘books to read’ list!

Their boys, Galen and Hayden, were all smiles, giggles, and silly faces. Little boys are seriously the best! I love Galen’s red hair and zany attitude. Hayden found joy in the smallest of things, like the rocks he found on the ground, and I was able to capture the truest of smiles.

About halfway through our session, Katherine’s family met up with us so we could finish out the morning with the whole crew. I love seeing kids having fun with their grandparents. Even though they don’t get to see each other very often, because they live in different states, they still share a special bond.

Thanks you guys!

the McGlynn Family: Sneak Peek

I took the McGlynn family pictures last week but haven’t had time to finish getting them ready for my blog… :( To tide them over (and you all, of course) here is a sneak peek!

the Allen Family

Last week, I had the pleasure of photographing the Allen Family up in Park City, UT. They had congregated together for a fun family reunion and early July 4th celebration. I always think it’s amusing to see cousins playing together as if they have been playing every day, sons clinging to their daddy, and kids attempting to hit a piñata. Thanks Allen Family! I hope you all traveled home in safety.

the Laub Family

I can’t tell you how excited I was to meet Ashley, Chris, and Devin.

Chris, being the good husband that he is, gave Ashley a photo session for their anniversary in May. They wanted a mixture of urban and greenery so we ventured out into downtown Salt Lake, which has all sorts of sweet locations within a couple blocks. I loved photographing these three. They are fantastic!

Devin has got to be one of the BEST little kids I have ever photographed. He was smiling and laughing the whole time — well, maybe he got a little tired at the end…

Thanks guys for an awesome session!
