Bryn: bridals

Bryn is my beautiful friend who is getting married this Saturday! (Sadly, I will not be her wedding photographer because of another wedding I am already shooting) I have always loved Bryn because of her thoughtfulness, exuberance, beauty, and kindness. Not the mention, we share the same birthday :)

I loved that I got to photograph Bryn in her gorgeous dress (that she designed) up at This is the Place Heritage Park. Bryn doesn’t even have to try to look natural. She is as lovely on the inside as on the outside.

Emily and Brandon: Reception Candids

Emily and Brandon made sure to greet every guest who came to their ring ceremony and reception. I loved watching them (as well as their parents) give hugs, laugh, and thank everyone for coming. It was a wonderful evening with lots of smiles, cute kids, and even some sun!

Emily and Brandon: Details, Ring Ceremony, and Cake Cutting

Emily and Brandon had a ring ceremony and reception in Smoot Hall at This is the Place Heritage Park. It is such a lovely location and fit in perfectly with their vintage style. They had two weddings cakes: one for the bride, and one for the groom. Brandon’s was done as a movie-style because he is a film maker and film editor. The main cake was gorgeous with its diamond pattern and fancy ‘S’ symbols. Seriously some of the best cakes I’ve seen!

The ring ceremony began with a little presentation showcasing Brandon and Emily and her three cute kids. I loved seeing their expressions as they watched the production. The ceremony was short but sweet and a perfect way to start off the evening’s reception.

Emily and Brandon

Emily and Brandon are so great to photograph. They are very natural and relaxed in front of the camera, plus they wanted some photos that weren’t traditional. I had fun trying different backgrounds, compositions, and poses to mix things up.

I absolutely love Emily’s dress. The flower decoration in her hair was a perfect accent to the ensemble. Brandon’s striped tie made his suit complete and looked awesome next to Emily. Such a beautiful couple!

Emily and Brandon: Temple Candids

Emily and Brandon were married the last weekend in April…a very windy and chilly weekend…but, the good thing was that Spring was in full bloom! We were surrounded by luscious blossoms, brightly colored flowers, and the air smelled so fresh.

Although the weather was not ideal, it was a fantastic day! Emily had a necklace crisis, as the clasp on her pearls broke, so her mother & aunt pitched in and swapped necklaces. I felt bad for the little ones who froze as we took the group pictures on the temple steps, but everyone endured and we were able to capture some wonderful moments :)

Joanne and Joe: the dinner

Joanne and Joe had an absolutely exquisite dinner at the Lion House on the evening of their wedding. This is one of the most beautiful, historical homes in downtown Salt Lake City. The furniture and tapestries are so elegant and were a perfect match for Joanne and Joe. I mean, take a look at their cake. It’s the epitome and elegance! And their two-toned wedding rings? So incredible.

I loved photographing them interact with their close family & friends who attended. Taking candid pictures is one of my most favorite things to do! Combine that with a wedding and I am happy as a clam.

Joanne and Joe

I loved the time Joanne and Joe spared so that we could take pictures of the two of them on their wedding day. It started snowing while we were were shooting (poor Joanne was in a short-sleeved dress!) but with grins from ear to ear, you wouldn’t be able to tell it was wintry weather. Plus, we had gorgeous pink blossoms and colorful tulips surrounding us to make up for the dreary skies.

These two are incredible to watch. They express their love towards one another so effortlessly. Joe can’t keep his eyes off Joanne and he is always looking adoringly at her. Joanne has the most honest, happy smile and I can just tell that they are meant to be together.

Joanne and Joe: temple candids

Joanne and Joe were married on a cold & blustery, April day. We had blue skies for part of the day (snow came later in the afternoon) and the Salt Lake LDS temple was brimming with blossoms and tulips.

Joanne was a good sport as she put up with the wind blowing her veil every which way, even being so forceful as to dislodge it from her hair multiple times. But, despite all that, there were smiles and laughs all around making it a perfect day!

Shawnna and Leo: Engagement Session

Shawnna and Leo are getting married next week! This beautiful couple was brought together by ballroom dancing. They were acquaintances from a ballroom dance class while they attended University. Through facebook, they were reconnected, but the real magic happened when Shawnna gave a call out on her facebook page saying she was in need of a dance partner. Leo stepped up and they have been dating ever since.

These two are such a gorgeous pair and I absolutely loved photographing them. Shawnna has incredible, long, shiny hair (not to mention a tiny waist). And Leo is debonair and dapper. I love how they both have blue eyes. I had a blast watching them dance and interact with each other and I can’t wait to photograph their wedding!

Kate and Sawyer: the party

Once Kate and Sawyer got all the ‘formal’ stuff out of the way, then it was time to party. They had an amazing dinner catered by Tucanos (sorry, not enough room on the blog for those pics). The maid of honor, best man, and both fathers shared beautiful toasts. Then was time for the cake cutting. You probably noticed in the previous post, but their cake was a tower of cupcakes! Now, that is my kind of cake!

They started the dancing off with the bride & groom’s first dance as husband and wife. What a wonderful dance it was :) Then, the father/daughter and mother/son dances. I seriously loved watching them all. As you can see by the photos, this was a joyous occasion with lots of laughter, lots of fun, and lots and lots of dancing!

PS Make sure you look closely at the bouquet and garter tosses. Fun sequences :)
