This afternoon I was photographing the beautiful, talented, prolific writer, Julia. We came across this awesome group of people and talked to them about photography for a bit. The two girls are looking to get pictures for their portfolios, which I would of course love to do since they are both gorgeous. (And, in case you can’t tell, the woman on the left is the mother of the middle girl. Doesn’t she look fabulous?)
I was proud to take their picture and agreed I would name my blog post “Collage”
So, here it is. Thanks for being so friendly!

I had the pleasure & opportunity to photograph an event last week where Florence Jacobsen was granted the Junius Wells Award. There were quite a few big names that attended including President Thomas S. Monson, Elder Boyd K. Packer, Elder M. Russell Ballard, Chieko Okazaki, and Ruth Todd.
Florence has had an extraordinary life and I’m going to say this right here & now: I want to be like her. She stayed true to what she believed in, she devoted her life to serving others, she is full of love & charity to all, and she looks incredible. I doubt you would be able to guess her age because she looks fantastic! Some of the things she accomplished for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is that she helped save & restore the Lion House and worked on the interiors of the Manti Temple. She is a doer and put all her heart into everything. Plus, Florence is extremely humble & grateful.
Florence greeted everyone with a hug, smile, and held their hand as she spoke to them. Although she was the one being honored, she made everyone know that they meant something to her. What a truly incredible woman and what a wonderful opportunity for me to photograph her big night

Last week, my amazing photographer friends Sheryll, Tara, and I went scouting for some fun locations in Salt Lake. We found some fantastic spots with great textures, colors, and of course blossoms.
Tara is one of those wonderful friends who can be soft spoken but also a riot. She is so genuine and always makes me happy when I’m with her. Tara does some amazing wedding & portrait photography work.
Check her site out HERE.

Sheryll is one of those people who can always get me rolling. As you can see from her pictures, she is constantly laughing & smiling. I always laugh so hard with Sheryll, my sides hurt. She’s an incredible photographer, specializing in lifestyle portraiture. Check out her work HERE.

Last week, I found the first blossoms in Salt Lake! (or at least I’d like to think I found the first ones)
I love Spring and everything that comes with it: the blossoms, the sun, the rain, and all of the sweet smells.
Definitely one of my favorite seasons

I was thrilled when Amy called me to photograph her family. It had been a few years since I had photographed them and her boys were growing up fast. I hadn’t even met their newest, Sam, before.
Collin and William are now 4 and just as spunky and cute as ever. They helped me find great spots to take their picture. We found a ‘secret trail’ where they let me photograph them without the whole crew
Amy’s family was also in town so we had a good sized group. What a fun bunch! It’s always fun to reconnect with old friends.
P.S. I’m curious. Do you like large vertical images? Or 2 vertical images side-by-side?

My nephew, James, had a spectacular birthday party a few weeks ago. Complete with ‘hot Diego’, transportation bingo, dancing, frosting cookies, and chocolate cupcakes. I am constantly in awe of my sister and all she does for her kids. I hope I can someday be as good of a mom as she is
For a lot of these shots, I was playing with my friends 85mm lens, which was a lot of fun. I think I’m gonna have to get me one of them awfully soon….
Hope you enjoy! It’s amazing to watch kids and see how they live, laugh & love. You can learn a lot from them.

I just received a wonderful surprise: an email saying that the Three Winks Studio Blog has been featured on Guide to Art Schools Best Photo Blogs.
“We have gone through and hand-picked a list of our favorite photography blogs and outline the unique reasons why we like them. I really appreciate that your blog is for anyone who wants to step away from the mundane to experience how extraordinary life really is.”
Wow. What a compliment! I am flattered and honored to be included on this list. And it COMPLETELY made my Friday awesome!
