I gotta say, I love photographing this little bunch. I’ve photographed them many times including when Charlie was a baby and last October.
Sammy always keeps me on my toes with her sense of humor and scheming. Harry is never dull with his laughter and excitement. And, Charlie. Well, Charlie couldn’t have been cuter. He is now about 8 months old and, like any 8-month-old, he loves exploring the ground and putting things in his mouth.

Happy Halloween!

Missy and Andy are getting married at the end of November! Right from the beginning of our session, they were laughing, teasing, and having fun together — it was easy for them to forget I was even there
They were willing to try out lots of locations (many of them were places I’d never shot at before) and they had great ideas, too. Missy and Andy are both designers, so they have amazing taste and style. Thanks for an awesome morning session!

Candice and Jake are getting married in a couple of weeks (yay). Jake came along for Candice’s bridal session so that we could get awesome shots of the two of them at the temple and with gorgeous fall leaves (because those sadly won’t be nearly as lovely in the middle of November). We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day! Crystal clear blue sky, vibrant leaves at their peak, warm temperatures with cooler weather just on the horizon: everything was impeccable, including the couple.
Candice found the perfect dress — that looks amazing on her — and she bought it used! (I hope it’s okay I said that). I think it’s fantastic that she found a dress she can love and enjoy, but that didn’t break the bank. Plus, she isn’t as concerned about getting it dirty, which is a great plus for me, as her photographer
Anyways, Jake complimented her well with his dark brown, pin-striped suit. Very classic. Candice and Jake are a lovely couple with awesome chemistry and I can’t wait for their upcoming wedding!

We took Libby and Joe’s bridals a couple weeks after the wedding for 2 reasons.
1- the dress wasn’t ready before the wedding because it was handmade by her sister (how amazing is that?) and 2- it was raining too hard on the day of the wedding.
Taking the photos after the wedding worked out even better than we could have planned. The weather was the epitome of fall and Rose Sachs Gardens was gorgeous, as it’s nestled in Utah’s beautiful mountains with the leaves at perfection.
Libby and Joe have such amazing chemistry and are so fun to photograph.

Libby and Joe had a wonderful dinner and reception, complete with lots of hugs, dancing, toasts, laughing, and and more hugs. Everyone warmed up after the ceremony in the rain and a fabulous time was had by all!
Libby and Joe wanted to venture out in the rain about halfway through the reception. It was still raining outside and by this time it was super dark. I loved that these two were up for anything and embraced every aspect of their wedding day, even if it didn’t go ‘as planned’. They knew the most important thing was the wedding and that they were able to share it with their family and friends. Everything else just added to the memories.

Off to the honeymoon!

Well, the rain kept coming…and having their hearts set on an outdoor wedding, Libby and Joe decided to do away with the backup plan and have their dream wedding outside: rain or not.
I’m not gonna lie, shooting out in the rain (not just drizzle rain, but coming down pretty good rain) is quite challenging. My cameras were both covered to protect them, so it was difficult to access everything with the same ease and comfort that I’m used to. Plus, for a while I was wearing my hood to protect my head…that didn’t last very long because it kept covering up my left eye, making it difficult to see. Basically, my head was soaked, my knees & feet were soaked from kneeling in the wet grass, and my glasses were covered in rain drops. Note to self: wear contacts if it might rain. But, enough about me.
Libby and Joe had a beautiful ceremony. They had a special program, complete with an Aztec poem (correct me if I’m remembering wrong) about a tree, which they added soil and water to together. They had close family and friends participate as well. I loved all the umbrellas and huddling going on. What a memorable day!
P.S. David assisted me and was a tremendous help both outside and in. He’s an excellent photographer I was fortunate enough to have shoot with me. Thanks David!

It’s common knowledge that if you have an outdoor event, if there is a chance of rain, you make a backup plan. Well, when I arrived at Rose Sachs Gardens for Libby and Joe’s wedding, that is exactly what I found. They had a big white canopy with chairs set up, in case of rain. After only being there 10 minutes, the rain started coming. I thought we’d be inside the canopy for sure.
I went about my business, photographing them set up chairs for the ceremony, the tables for the dinner, Joe taking charge like a good groom should do, and Libby with her ‘ladies in waiting’ as they primped and got her ready for her walk down the aisle. Libby was very calm and collected despite a few setbacks that delayed the ceremony. I was very impressed.
Also, I don’t think I’ve mentioned yet that her sister made her dress. She had to make some finishing touches on it before the wedding, but it was phenomenal. I loved that Libby wanted something different, but still beautiful. The red accent color and the lace over the bodice of her dress were the perfect touch.

Libby and Joe were married up at Rose Sachs Gardens the first weekend in October. Despite doing their research — I guess October 4th was the day with the least amount of precipitation over the last 100 years — their wedding day was blessed with rain. Lots and lots of rain. Besides the cold & wet aspect of the rain, it really made the colors pop and everything glistened with the moisture.
Libby put together beautiful center pieces for the tables made from rocks she collected, wine bottles, and gorgeous dried flowers. All of the details were impeccable. I also have to say that her flowers are one of my most favorite so far. Such exquisite arrangements filled with berries, rich colors, and your not-so-common-run-of-the-mill flowers. It really is the details of the wedding day that sets you apart.

I have to add that Joe’s ring is made from a meteorite. How awesome is that? As a gift, he gave Libby one to match on the night before their wedding. Precious.

I loved the small, simple details of Katie and Troy’s reception. Since they were married in another state, their reception was focused on close family and friends (these are the best kind, by far). I also loved Katie’s bouquet of red roses. Elegant. Simple. Beautiful.
We had been in the midst of many rain storms, so they were forced to have their reception indoors. Luckily, that evening, the skies parted and created gorgeous light for pictures. I’m glad we could sneak away for a couple minutes to capture them with Utah’s picturesque mountains lit up by the setting sun
Also, I need to give a big shout out and THANKS to David for coming along to shoot with me. He captured some fantastic candids and detail shots, plus he came in handy when I needed someone to hold my external flash.
