Brigg

Meet Brigg.

He’s a psychologist who specializes in relationship counseling for men: helping men and their families build strong relationships and a meaningful life. I love that his main objective is to help people find happiness in life and in their relationships. This really struck a chord with me, probably because I’ve been analyzing this very thing in my own life. Happiness really should be the ultimate goal. True happiness in things that really matter, not in that which is temporary. (Don’t worry, I won’t get on my soap box right now…)

Anyways, Brigg was very approachable and fun to be with. I almost felt like I could start bearing my soul…but I restrained myself since I was there to take his picture ;)

Dominique

For any of you awesome ‘blog followers’ out there, you will notice that this is Dominique’s second time featured on my blog. She is a rising author, putting the finishing touches on an upcoming book that will be published! We took her headshots in May…and I was lucky enough to get to photograph her again (due to my own fault, not Dominique’s). Anyways, she is incredible and so easy to talk to. I love how we have music, driving, and enjoying the simple, everyday beauty that surrounds us in common. Thanks Dominique, for truly being so awesome and understanding :)

Candice and Jake

Candice and Jake were brave enough to do their engagement session on a Saturday morning (we started at 7:30am!). The light was beautiful, the weather was perfect, and the couple was…well, see for yourself!
They were stylin’, fun, and super easy to photograph. We hit up some classic spots in downtown Salt Lake City. Some of the locations you may recognize…others you may not…we did go to 2 new places that I’d never shot at before. I love the thrill, excitement, and creativity that comes when I shoot in new environments.

Thanks you two! Can’t wait for your wedding on 11-11 ;)

Brooke and Lex: the reception

Shooting candids at Brooke and Lex’s reception was great fun. It truly is enjoyable to see a newly wed couple hug, laugh, and greet their close friends and family. But, it’s more than just that. Every couple has their ‘thing’. With some couples, the groom’s hand is always on the bride’s back. With others, they hold hands the entire night. With Brooke and Lex, it was rubbing necks. How precious is that? I wouldn’t mind someone rubbing my neck all the time ;) I loved it!

Brooke and Lex: the details

Brooke and Lex had lovely, simple details for their wedding that really brought everything together beautifully. Gorgeous end-of-the summer flowers, a lush backyard overlooking the Salt Lake Valley, and a vintage cake topper to crown an exquisite cake. Brooke actually handled most of the wedding details herself (while also completing her residency to become a doctor, mind you).

Everything was planned and prepared with perfection. She also had a photo booth for the guests to use, which of course, was a huge hit. And don’t you love her wedding ring? It was actually Lex’s grandmother’s, which they were able to restore and size to fit Brooke’s finger. I think it’s simply enchanting. The rubies make it breathtaking and one-of-a-kind.

Oh, and the food was incredible, catered by aVikingsfeast.com. I guess they also catered for the Olympics when they were here in Salt Lake. Amazingly delicious.

Brooke and Lex: at the Temple

I loved taking Brooke and Lex’s pictures on their wedding day. They are both so down-to-earth and natural, which makes their photographs feel that way, too! I even got to give Lex a hard time because he’s not one to be in the spotlight or do a lot of PDA…so it was a good thing Brooke was there to keep him interested ;)

And, I have to give a big shout out to Brooke, who sprained her ankle only a few days before the wedding. She was a trooper and walked in heels for a few hours despite having a badly bruised and injured foot. Now, that’s a hard core bride if I’ve ever seen one.

Brooke and Lex: Temple Candids

Brooke and Lex were married on a gorgeous August Saturday. Surrounded by family (both of their parents had to travel to Utah for the wedding), old college roommates, and many people who love them, this fun couple didn’t appear have a care in the world that day. The mood was laid back, joyful, and the epitome of bliss: the way a wedding day should feel.

Annie and Joe: the Reception

Annie and Joe had a spectacular reception on their wedding night. Delicious food, classic music to fit with their vintage theme, and lots and lots of guests to greet. One thing they did that is becoming quite popular, is they had a photo booth for all their guests to use. The guest would get 6 images taken inside the booth. There were large blank pages so they could decorate a page and write a special note to Annie and Joe, leave 3 pictures for the couple, and then keep 3 for themselves. It was a fantastic idea and was the hit of the night!

Annie and Joe: the Details

We all know it’s the little things that can make the biggest impact. Annie and Joe had everything created with impeccable care given to the details. They wanted to have a vintage feel. Everything from Annie’s dress to her hair, to the amber vases on each table, to the paper straws to drink soda from glass bottles, to the candy bar which was filled with vintage candies. Even their cake topper was a gorgeous vintage bride and groom!

Everything was perfect and made for a grand event.

Annie and Joe

I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. The short time that I get to spend one-on-one with my couples on their wedding day is the greatest! You cannot replicate their happiness, expressions, sincerity, and excitement that envelopes them. We had a gorgeous day with bright blue skies to accompany us, along with a little bit of wind. I decided that Annie and Joe must have a knack for bringing a breeze. EVERY single time I photographed them, there was wind for part of the time. Makes me laugh. I love the brightness of the sun and the vibrant colors of Annie’s bouquet, which seemed to add even more pizazz to their pictures.
