I just wanted all of you to know that I will be out of the office Monday June 25th – Wednesday the 27th. I am attending a photography seminar in downtown Salt Lake, given by Brody Dezember and David Salamone. It’s called E2: Ever Evolving. They will be discussing everything from the photography industry to branding and workflow. Plus, we will go on some great photo shoots. I will still be checking email, but won’t be able to respond as quickly as usual.

On Saturday morning, bright and early, I met up with some friends to go rock climbing. This was technically only the third time I’ve been and it’s always such a blast. We hiked a short ways up Ferguson Canyon to some beautiful granite cliffs, which apparently granite is a little harder to climb on. It’s definitely a rush when you make it to the top. The guys did this awesome climb that was quite tricky (maybe someday I’ll be strong enough and skilled enough to try). Here are some pics of our morning’s adventures. (There’s even one of me — I definitely look cooler than I felt)

This morning, Vanessa was a good sport about waking up at the crack of dawn to get ready for her bridals. We drove up Parleys Canyon to East Canyon, Little Dell Reservoir, and the Mountain Dell golf course. It was such a beautiful day, but nothing compared to how incredible Vanessa loooked! I love her lacey dress with sparkles at the bottom. The cut of the dress and her yellow sash accentuate her tiny waist.
I was so impressed at how Vanessa was so willing and excited to go anywhere I suggested. She walked through tall weeds, nearly got her dress wet by the lake, and followed me through the golf course with balls whizzing past. She totally worked it and we had so much fun! I am so excited for your wedding

Some of you may recall the portraits I took last year for Morgan Wellness. This morning I photographed Heather, who is a new employee, and Merrilee, who wanted to wear something other than black. Morgan Wellness is a holistic clinic that focuses on chiropractics and natural healing procesess, such as Reiki.
Thanks, Merrilee for having me come back!

Every year for the past 5 years, I have taken the Brighton LDS Girls Camp Staff Photo. I always look forward to this photo because the staff members are so much fun to be around! They are a bright, spiritual, energetic, friendly bunch of amazing women who spend their entire summer up at Brighton (right on the ski resort slopes) to enhance the lives of young teenage girls.
This year I wanted to take some detail shots of the camp and of their surroundings. It is breathtaking up there! I am jealous that they get to be there ALL summer long. The drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon was so pleasant with the sun shining, blue skies above me, and big rocky cliffs covered in trees in all directions.

I met up with the Smith’s this morning in Park City at a BEAUTIFUL ranch (whose kind, generous owners allowed us on their property to take these photographs). They are from all over the U.S. and came together this week for a big family reunion. Besides a few tired kids, they were all so cooperative and cute. They are awesome.
Thanks for giving me the chance for photograph your beautiful family! To see some more images, watch their SLIDESHOW.

After a few really cold and wet days this week, we had a gorgeous, warm, sunny Saturday. This morning I took the Siddiqui Family’s pictures (they’re the family who had the Spiderman party last week). Since their yard is so beautiful, we decided to have the shoot there. All I can say is what a fun, loving, enjoyable family! These little boys were seriously adorable. All you needed to do to get them to laugh and smile was to ‘threat’ them with tickling: their dad was the best at this. Here are some of my favorites. Check out this SLIDESHOW to see more.

This morning was so much fun! My little brother just turned in his papers to serve an LDS mission and my mom wanted me to take his pictures. Plus, we never did his Senior Pics last year (he just finished his first year at the U of U) so we kind of turned it into one, super photo-taking-morning! Skip (that’s his nickname, his real name is Stewart) let me drag him around downtown Salt Lake and he even put up with all my posing ideas without complaint. He is seriously a good-looking stud — and he’s also smart, kind, and funny. Mom, I hope you like these
P.S. I didn’t mention it in my last two posts because I didn’t want to take away from their photos, but I got an awesome new lens on Saturday! It’s a wide-angle zoom and it’s seriously incredible. I am in love. Thanks to Shannon for buying a Canon so she could sell me her beautiful Nikon lens!

Saturday evening was warm and pleasant: a perfect night for a party. Harold (you may remember him from photos at Marilyn’s Retirement Celebration) decided it was his turn to retire from the University of Utah Orthopaedics. His fabulous wife planned a sweet, small gathering of close friends to celebrate. She gave him a beautiful painting of the Salt Lake Valley, which is almost the exact same view of the Valley I took from the backyard (at the bottom of the post) but it’s stunning.

Today was awesome! It made me want to be a kid again…
I photographed Zydaan’s 5-year birthday party. He had tons of cool friends, snow cones, a pinata, and Spiderman came! Spiderman gave everyone a quick superhero training course and had the kids do push-ups, sit-ups, and jumping jacks with him. Then he gave them a ride on his ‘web’ rope. Spiderman did magic tricks which enthralled everyone and then he made everyone a balloon sword or butterfly.
Happy Birthday Zydaan! Here’s a SLIDESHOW with more images from your fun day.
